Cut the rope is a unique set of physics based puzzle video games developed and designed by the Russian video game company ZeptoLab exclusively for the PSP handheld gaming platform. The game starts in the center of a woods where you control a tiny girl named Nelly who's looking for her lost brother, called Joe. To be able to achieve Joe, Nelly must first cut the rope that contributes to a strange tower at the center of the woods. The tower is guarded by a monster named Treadmills, a powerful, yet fairly clumsy creature which makes the ropes that lead to the tower unstable.
After cutting the rope, then Nelly should use the PS Vita's camera so as to control the ropes in such a way as to allow her to cross the towers and get nearer to Joe. The game is played in a horizontal scrolling mode, similar to the ones found in Nintendo DS and PSP handheld gaming systems. This mode enables gamers to rotate the camera from left to right in order to see the tower and the creature Treadmills since they move across the screen. Once Nelly reaches the tower, she must make her way down the rope and conquer the monster before going into the Tower of Light.

If Nelly goes upward, she must make her way through the Tower of Light till she reaches the bottom, while if she goes down she needs to find a way back to the tower to keep her experience.
A unique feature of the game is the rope Nelly utilizes to cut the rope is a manifestation of her emotions and mental frame of mind. If she is happy or unhappy, she will use another type of rope and when she's angry, she will use a different rope altogether.
